Skype and Google Take a Run at Wifi Voip

Back in November, I made a post about Wifi+Voip+PDA's, the gist of it beeing that there are a number of other components that need to be put in place in order for wifi voip to be taken seriously.

Well, a recent announcement by Skype and Google, may give Wifi Voip the legs it needs to take a serious run at the cell phone companies.

With the two comanies investing in Fon Technology, out of Spain, the two companies are making a small wager that wifi sharing and voip will take off like wild fire.

Essentially, Fon is wireless peer-to-peer network infrastructure that provides consumers the opportunity to share their broadband connection for the benefit of the broader community.

cheap internet phone call

Hi, great blog by the way - didn't think you'd mind me posting this anonymously - as you do allow anonymous posts ;-).

Anyone tried this Skype program yet for free telephone calls over the internet? A guy at work uses it all the time and because he signed all his friends and relatives up he saves a fortune on his calls. Might be worth a go.

Good luck with the blog
